Finally moved in!

Okay. Not quite. BUT! We are *mostly* moved in.  As a reminder, this is the apartment we chose during my House Hunters International Posts Contestants and Conclusion. We got the keys on a Monday night and started taking things over the next day. Plus our shipping container with all our stuff also arrived on the same day. Plus, PLUS, we got our delivery from Ikea on the same Tuesday at lunch time. That’s a lot of stuff.

Our moving guys were great. They set up the beds we had shipped (Mark had to put together E’s Ikea bed) and they put the furniture where we thought we wanted it. Mark took the day off and we immediately went to work unpacking the kitchen. E’s birthday was the next day and I was able to make a birthday dinner of pizza and cupcakes!

I will say this; we have too much stuff. I am seriously thinking about pitching more of my clothes and parring down the toys even more. And the art supplies. And paper. OMG the PAPER! Our boys love to draw. And we love to have them draw. However, they expect us to keep every scrap of paper.

I have also discovered that the electrical current in the kitchen and/or the current my kitchen appliances require is different enough that I can’t use a converter for them. I will need to buy new ones or find stronger converters.  I have already had to buy a new coffee pot, a stick blender, a toaster, and an iron. (Okay the iron is not a kitchen appliance, but I still had to buy a new one.)

The kitchen is wonderful. Everyone has a bed to sleep in. Shopping at Ikea is still necessary – I think I need more rugs.

In a hurried and extremely stressful trip to Ikea, I bought new lights to install in the house. (People take their lights with them when they leave.)  The ceilings here are made of concrete, which makes hanging lights a little challenging. I asked a handyman about it while he was here repairing two other lights, and he was happy to help! So, yay! We got lights!

And now I will be be decorating for Christmas!  Stay tuned that that!

We are loving our apartment. The kids love it.  It’s in a good location.  We are now waiting for visitors.

Our dining space. It's actually part of the living space, but it really works out well and I love the layout.

The living room, sans chairs. That would require me to clean again and I'm not up to it.

The stairs! They are a nice architectural feature and they don't require much space.

The bank of cupboards in our kitchen. The fridge is also disguised as one of them. (Psst! It's the one on the right!)

My cooking area! A really nice butcher's block table has been moved in since this picture was taken and that really adds to the food prep area.

My huge, huge doors to the terrace! The light is incredible and really makes me feel peppy in the morning.
