Are you stuck in your manuscript? Do you have a second or third draft that isn’t quite singing and you need fresh eyes to find issues with your plot, pacing, characters, or structure? I’m your gal! I charge $0.03 per word for a full developmental edit, which includes the initial reading, a summary of what’s working and what needs attention, and a second read after you’ve made changes. I work in Google Docs or Word and will use track changes to make my comments.
These in-manuscript notes will reflect my love its, suggestions, thoughts on pacing, and occasional confusion. The editorial summary will reflect my overall feelings about the work, big-picture thoughts and ideas, as well as suggestions for improvements. All suggestions should be considered only if they resonate with you.
Or for $650 I’ll do a “vibe check” edit. The vibe check isn’t as extensive or detailed as the developmental edit and includes only one reading. I will make comments in the document and include a more abbreviated editorial summary.

“My latest project was good, but it was missing something. I sent it to Mindy Carlson, and she helped me find it. I can’t say enough about working with her.” – Wes Browne, author of They All Fall the Same, winner of the 2025 The Weatherford Award for Fiction, one Book Riot’s The Best Books of 2025 (So Far), and one of Goodreads’ 2025’s Biggest Mysteries and Thrillers.
“Mindy’s manuscript feedback is smart and insightful. Her comments make it clear she “gets” my writing, while also offering clever ways to improve it. The process of receiving feedback can be fraught and intimidating, but Mindy’s notes always leave me feeling excited and energized to dive back into my manuscript and make it the best it can be.” – Cayce Osborne, author of I Know What You Did.
