— Basel is very clean. It’s because they employ actual people to keep the city clean. They have a neat vacuum device to suck up trash and cigarette butts and they run small street sweepers around the neighborhoods on a rotation. We have a sweeper that goes by our place 2 or 3 days per week.
— I pass a building every day that has a tattoo parlor on the first level and an acupuncturist on the second level. (Learning the language is important!)
— It doesn’t matter what language the argument is happening in, the facial expressions of a teenage girl having an (incredibly civil) argument with a parent she feels is wrong, wrong, wrong are *the* universal language.
— Everything is better with chocolate.
— The citizen of Basel are some of the most helpful and polite I have come across while traveling in Europe.
