I took my sewing machine in to be cleaned and serviced on the Friday I left of the yoga retreat. I sort of expect to have a phone call any minute now telling me I can pick it up. (At least, I’m hoping I hear from the by tomorrow. I need to be sewing!)

So in the meantime, I’ve finished hand sewing around the applique and I’m going to start getting the lining, handles, fleece cut for my next shopping bag and get the pieces cut for a neat little handbag. I’m hopeful that I can get it all cut out tonight and then some little elves will come by and sew it up for me during the night and I will come down to my workshop and find two elegant bags sitting in a beam of sunlight.

Or does that only happen with cobblers and shoes?

But time is ticking away! The show is 27 days away! And I need to PRODUCE! And now I’m really anxious about my decision to send my machine to be serviced. But it wasn’t working properly and I can’t have it overheating and breaking down after 2 hours of use. ARGH!

I’m just going to focus my energies on cutting the fabric and hoping for the best.

In other news, since I haven’t been sewing I’ve had time to cook. I made some lemon bars using Ina Garten’s recipe. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/lemon-bars-recipe/index.html

They were fabulous and E-A-S-Y. No need to cook the lemon curd over the stove top. Just mix and dump it over the pre-baked and still warm shortbread crust. I used Meyer Lemons, but regular lemons will do it, too. And they got rave reviews. Make these bars for your next get-together and you, too, can be recognized as a fabulous cook. I made them on Friday, had them chill over night, and they were gone by Sunday afternoon.

I want to make another batch, but, honey, my waistline can’t take it! I have to fit into these jeans for the rest of the winter and it’s barely November. And I’m not prepared to take drastic measures yet (i.e. getting on my treadmill. :))

Well, back to cutting. And keep your fingers crossed that the sewing shop calls me and tells me I can pick up my sewing machine.
