A new chapter has dawned.
Last month I reclaimed my rights to my novel HER DYING DAY. It’s a scary-exciting kind of moment to be completely in control of my own work, but I’m barreling head-long into it.
I got a new cover!

Ironically, this is an alternate version my original cover designer proposed to my publisher. They didn’t love it, but I do. Kind of a “meant to be” situation.
I got new blurbs from people I love and authors I respect. (They all happen to be on both lists.)
First up for purchase is the Kindle version (Check it Out!).
It was easy to navigate the upload of a digital version. I used a software called “Vellum” which let me format it and view how it would look on every kind of e-reader on the market today. And Amazon, for all their faults, made the upload really easy.
(As of this moment, the original version isn’t linked with the Kindle version. It will take at least 7 days for them to “find each other.” And customer service assures me this will happen because of course I called them when it didn’t happen instantaneously.)
Next up will be the paperback version. AND I’M SO EXCITED!! I’ve wanted HER DYING DAY to be a paperback for sooooo long. It’s an ideal beach read and so perfect for an e-reader or a lighter-weight paperback version. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready.
In order for it to be ready, my cover designer needs to send me the back jacket of the cover and the graphics for the spine. Then I can add it to the Vellum formatting and upload it to not only Amazon, but Ingram publishing.
Ingram is where indie bookstores and conference bookstores order their books. I’m also going to see about getting it up onto Bookshop.org, but from what I understand there may be a couple more hoops to jump through.
This is definitely a learn as you go experience. I have amazing friends (thank you Tony and Larry) holding my hand and talking me through buying a new ISBN number for the book and getting it uploaded.
I hope you get to see the paperback soon. I’ll need to get some ARCs first to make sure everything looks like it should before I send her out into the wide, wide world, but perhaps in March I’ll have a small celebration for June and her very bad decisions.
